How it works

How our World of Warcraft: Forever BiS lists are calculated

Every best-in-slot list on ForeverWoW.gg is calculated from World of Warcraft: Forever's own game data for all 9 classes, 28 specs and every level from 1 to 60, and rebuilt daily.

From game data to BiS list

  1. 1

    Read the game data

Item stats, armor, weapon damage, random suffixes, set bonuses and on-use effects come straight from the World of Warcraft: Forever client and its server hotfixes, calculated exactly the way the game does.

  2. 2

Keep only what you can use

Armor types and weapon skills per class (mail and plate unlock at 40), dual wield, shields, relics, faction and class restrictions, and the level each item becomes obtainable.

  3. 3

    Score with spec stat weights

Every stat is multiplied by your spec's weight and added up, plus weapon DPS for weapons. Each slot is sorted by that score and the top 10 are shown.

Modern itemization in World of Warcraft: Forever

World of Warcraft: Forever gives every item a stat budget from its item level, quality and slot, then splits that budget between stats. That's why two items of the same level can look very different: one may spend its budget on Strength, another on Hit Rating and Stamina.

Old percentage effects are now ratings. At level 60, 10 Hit Rating is 1% hit and 14 Crit Rating is 1% crit, and both apply to spells too, so casters value them the same way melee does.

Random suffixes, sets and trinkets

Green items with random enchantments like "of the Bear" or "of the Owl" are scored once per suffix, and the list shows the best suffix for your spec.

Set bonuses that grant stats are shared across the pieces you can collect at your level. On-use trinkets count at their average uptime: an effect that lasts 20 seconds every 2 minutes is worth one sixth of its full value.

Leveling gear that's actually reachable

Leveling lists matter most when they're honest. A quest reward counts from the level its quest can be accepted, not the item's level. Dungeon drops count from a few levels below the boss, crafted gear from when its profession tier unlocks.

Each page also shows what's new at that level, so you can see which upgrades to chase right after you ding.

Stat weights per spec

Each of the 28 specs has its own stat weights, normalized so the main stat is 1.0. Hit and crit weigh heavily for damage dealers, healing and mana regeneration for healers, Stamina, Defense and avoidance for tanks.

The full weights are listed at the bottom of every BiS page, so you can see exactly why one item beats another.

World of Warcraft: Forever BiS FAQ

What does BiS mean in World of Warcraft: Forever?

BiS (best in slot) is the strongest item you can equip in each gear slot for your spec. ForeverWoW.gg ranks every item that fits a slot by your spec's stat weights and shows the top 10, so you can see the best pick and the closest alternatives.

Are World of Warcraft: Forever BiS lists the same as Classic Era?

No. World of Warcraft: Forever uses modern itemization: stats are a share of an item-level budget and old effects like "+1% hit" became hit and crit rating. Many items also changed, and Forever adds new zones, dungeons, raids and sets. Classic Era BiS lists will point you to the wrong items.

How often are the BiS lists updated?

Every day. Each night the lists are rebuilt from the newest World of Warcraft: Forever game build and server hotfixes, so stat changes and new items show up without waiting for a guide update.

Do the leveling lists only show gear I can actually get?

Yes. An item only appears at a level if your class can equip it and you can obtain it by then: quest rewards from the level their quest can be accepted, dungeon drops a few levels below the boss, crafted gear by profession tier, and faction-only rewards only for that faction.

What does the percentage next to each item mean?

It compares the item's score to the best item for that slot. 100% is the BiS pick; 90% means the item is worth 90% of it with your spec's stat weights.

Why do some items say "source unknown"?

Quest and drop sources come from community data that is still catching up with World of Warcraft: Forever's new content. The item exists in the game files with its real stats, but where it drops isn't mapped yet. These items are still ranked so you know they're worth hunting.

Are raid items and tier sets included?

Yes. Level 60 lists include raid, dungeon, crafted, reputation and vendor gear. Set bonuses that give stats are added to each piece's score based on how many pieces you can collect.

Can I filter out PvP gear or profession-only items?

The main lists leave out PvP-rank gear and items that need a profession to equip. The custom search lets you include them, pick any level and faction, or show only items with a known source.
